Digital procurement almost sounds like an oxymoron to some people. Sure, there are the manual processes that we all know and love (to hate).
But procurement professionals may also look sideways at the idea of digital procurement because they are intimately familiar with all of the unknowns that IT teams often don’t take into account when planning big projects like ERP modernization.
All this internal knowledge is juggled between one or two people who have been doing this job for years, meanwhile the idea of ERP modernization swoops in like the hero that saves the day.

Jens Brown has more than two decades of experience working with organizations to transform their procurement, payables, strategic sourcing, travel and expense management functions.
Currently, he is a principal in the education group at Huron Consulting, where he’s spent the last 13 years primarily focusing on spend management, consulting, operational assessments, strategic sourcing, work redesign and technology implementations for higher education and healthcare.
