From Risk to Results: Breaking Down Silos to Enable Secure Digital Payments

Long before changes to ACH rules were required to prevent vendor fraud, Palm Beach County School District recognized that, while there are many benefits to moving from check payments to ACH, the district still needed to implement new controls to address credit-push fraud.

In this case-study-driven session, the Treasurer of the Palm Beach County School District shares how the treasury team partnered with procurement to address vendor data integrity and establish proactive payment controls. By investing early in a stronger vendor identity process that complemented the move to ACH, the organization reduced its reliance on checks, improved visibility across departments, and enabled secure digital payments while maintaining strong and effective operational risk management.

Attendees will hear how aligning incentives across teams enabled ACH adoption at scale, reduced operational friction, and allowed the organization to pay vendors electronically without the ongoing risk of vendor impersonation fraud. Attendees will also leave with a better understanding of robust internal processing controls supported by third-party partnerships

  • Why Palm Beach chose to strengthen ACH controls long before the new Nacha Rules

  • How vendor data integrity enabled the safe move off of check payments

  • Why proactive compliance delivered lasting business value
